Thoughts To Ponder

It's time for me to come to the 21st century in technology. This may be the closest I ever come to a blog. Maybe not. But it will have to do for now.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
This humorous Sufi story reminds us that there is a corner of every religion that should be reserved for laughter…especially during the holidays, which should be all about joy regardless of your beliefs. A person can’t be serious about prayers, fasting, and observances all the time. Someone is bound to knock over the Menorah and set fire to the tablecloth or sneeze into the Christmas Eve communion wine, after all. I myself once stumbled walking by the nativity scene in a 1600s mission church and spilled hot chocolate all over the wooden Baby Jesus. I truly did. I singlehandedly turned Him into a bi-racial figure (that old, dry wood really soaked up the chocolate liquid). PA, RUM, PA, PUM, PUM! Read on…and remember to smile everyday!Gourd Fish for Sufi Tale

LIFE-SAVING FISH (SUFI)
When Mulla Nasradin was traveling in India, he came across a yogi living in a hut. Mulla entered the hut and inquired about the yogi’s devotion. The yogi replied, “I have devoted my life to living in communions with all living things – birds, fish, and animals. “And I as well,” Mulla chimed in. “In fact, a fish once saved my life.” “How marvelous,” said the yogi. “In all my years of being with my animal friends, I have never heard of such a thing. You must tell me about this.” “Most certainly,” Mulla answered. “But I feel I should first learn of your philosophy, so I might explain it better to you.” “Very well,” answered the yogi. For days he taught Mulla how to meditate, how to pray, and how to sit in complex postures. Then he asked again about this fish that had saved Mulla’s life. “Well,” replied Mulla. “I’m not sure I should tell you about this fish, now that I understand your philosophy.” “But please!” begged the yogi. “To learn about such a fish – a creature that could converse with a man and save his life. Surely such a fish would be one of God’s creatures.” “Perhaps,” Mulla responded. “But I’m not sure our philosophies will match. You see, the fish really did save my life. I was about to die of starvation. I caught it, ate it, and lived.”

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Story is smarter than I am. And this Buddhist tale has blessed me over and over again with every telling. May you also be blessed as you consider those things you may want to leave behind:

There was a man on a journey. He was a troubled individual but he was determined to reach his destination. He travelled far and came upon a river…a wide, raging Man on Raftwaterway. The current was swift with rapids. He knew there was no way he could swim across the river. Since he was in a wooded area, he pulled down trees and built a raft – a strong, sturdy structure held together by vines. He found a long pole for pushing. He threw the raft into the river and saw it was very well-built. Slowly, he fought his way through the currents. Although it was hard, he made it safely to the other side, where he pulled the boat out of the water. He needed to continue on his way but he thought about the barge that had safely delivered him. And, looking at it with gratitude, he hoisted the heavy raft upon his back and carried it with him the rest of his journey.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You've had your heart broken. Me. too. Love affairs. Ghastly divorce. I lost my imaginary marriage to Richard Gere (if he's reading this, call me!).

And you are probably aware of the 5 stages of grief - denial, anger, Chardonnay, etc.

Then there’s another stage - it is the Stupid Phase - sitting outside his house like a stalker, calling and hanging up, listening to Barry Manilow. You're afraid the pain is going to kill you. Then you're afraid the pain WON'T kill you.Love Cloud - Wolf Life Coaching

Until one day you realize that in spite of all the tears and hurt and endless hours of Barry Manilow…you've healed. You can now look directly at his picture and you no longer need to throw darts at it. News of his current girlfriend does not crater you. Your heart has once again rejuvenated itself and you are ready to start dating. Which you may do. Or not. Doesn’t matter because you are whole and grounded within yourself. You’ve learned the tricks to true love – you have fallen in love with yourself. Just float…a Love Cloud. Ask yourself out on a date. Sing a song to the mirror. Hug yourself. Flirt a bit. You are worthy. You are deserving. Just because you exist.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Earth - Wolf Life CoachingWhat an interesting planet. Wherever/Whoever we came from (yes, THAT’S a whole subject by itself) must have needed a good laugh so we were sent to be Spirits in Human Form complete with intelligence, compassion, inconsistencies, bad habits, the ability to mess up, laugh, forgive, love animals, procreate (and make it fun while trying), burn toast, build empires, create sand castles, skinny dip, make guacamole dip and just generally be fascinating and a pain in the neck all in one. I’ll bet UPS is still trying to figure out this delivery!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Writers know sometimes what we compose is really for ourselves. Thoughts sculpted in ink. Sans editing. It’s a vacation into another realm where we just say whatever comes. But succinctly. Writers may be eager to share the journey but no one wants to read a travelogue or long epistles. Much better to just get a post card: “Greetings from the State of Joy. Wish you were here!”

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Peace triumphs. Love flourishes. Joy abounds. Sound like Heaven? It's a gift for you wrapped up in a box with a crimson bow. Surprise! It's called Life. But wait...what about all the bad things that happen? Oh, they're still there but so are the flashing Exit signs known as Solutions, and there's always a first-aid station nearby if you look, while the Birthday Cake - Wolf Life Coaching tax collector becomes a court jester for your amusement. The good...the bad...it's all smoke and mirrors. A magic show for our lessons and growth. Enjoy it all. Happy Birthday!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
I’m convinced that our society’s latest accepted addiction is D-R-A-M-A. Rainbow - Wolf Life Coaching and HealingOtherwise we would not have 2 million reality shows on TV. And we would not be creating drama in our lives rather than creating fun or artwork or potholders. The chemicals oozing into our brains from frenzy is taking up residence and erecting signs of “More, more, more!” Instead, try swinging on a Rainbow. It’s a thrill but no drama! Wheee!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Storm - Wolf Life Coaching and HealingI was afraid of Yesterday so I raced into Today, hidden and silent. I was afraid of Tomorrow so I cowered in Today, invisible and motionless. Then I realized that Fear is just an illusion. It’s a hologram that can only exist in Yesterday or Tomorrow. So I emerged and began living in Today – open, visible and strutting about shouting, “I am here! I am here!” And Fear fled from me!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When I am given the choice of following rules or following a story, I’ll choose Story every time. Rules can be just barkers shouting orders, smacking of unquestioning obedience. Story can show me the way through narrative; it can answer questions I had not even thought of yet. Story is a gentler approach to a common goal and I’ll be taught along the way. Maybe I’ll even see a hummingbird or two!
